{"id":92,"date":"2006-04-12T23:15:00","date_gmt":"2006-04-13T06:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mccambridge.org\/blog\/2006\/04\/icpc-world-finals-day-4\/"},"modified":"2022-09-11T00:40:47","modified_gmt":"2022-09-11T00:40:47","slug":"icpc-world-finals-day-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mccambridge.org\/blog\/2006\/04\/icpc-world-finals-day-4\/","title":{"rendered":"ICPC World Finals: Day 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Adjectively Speaking<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Because it&#8217;s already 1:15am as I start this, and we have to get up early tomorrow to pack up and get to the airport, I&#8217;m going to try and cut back on my usual excessive verbosity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>This morning, before the contest<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>confident<\/li>\n<li>anticipatory<\/li>\n<li>nervous<\/li>\n<li>excited<\/li>\n<li>hungry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>During the contest<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>dwindlingly confident<\/li>\n<li>increasingly apprehensive<\/li>\n<li>frustrated<\/li>\n<li>cranially sore<\/li>\n<li>agitated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Post-mortem<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>unsuccessful<\/li>\n<li>disbelieving<\/li>\n<li>extremely frustrated<\/li>\n<li>angry<\/li>\n<li>embarassed<\/li>\n<li>disappointed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Afternoon and recuperation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>contemplative<\/li>\n<li>reflective<\/li>\n<li>better-humored<\/li>\n<li>resigned<\/li>\n<li>accepting<\/li>\n<li>comfortable<\/li>\n<li>content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Celebration&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>surprised<\/li>\n<li>initially disappointed<\/li>\n<li>reconsiderative <font size=\"small\"><em>(I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=reconsiderative\">damn near<\/a> made that word up)<\/em><\/font><\/li>\n<li>competitive<\/li>\n<li>excited<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Now<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>tired<\/li>\n<li>content<\/li>\n<li>satisfied<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>As you may have surmised, the competition went poorly.  All in all though, it was a great experience, and I don&#8217;t have any regrets.  I didn&#8217;t have the time to devote to studying more beforehand, largely because I chose other priorities, and I felt we did the best we could given our level of preparation.  Plus, we achieved two of our goals for the competition:  1) We beat the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, who beat us in the regional contest, and 2) We beat the South Dakota School of Mines &#038; Technology, which is a) my dad&#8217;s alma mater, and b) the other team that beat us in the North Central North America region.<\/p>\n<p>Hooray for Team Amphisbaena!<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adjectively Speaking Because it&#8217;s already 1:15am as I start this, and we have to get up early tomorrow to pack up and get to the airport, I&#8217;m going to try and cut back on my usual excessive verbosity.
